BOARD GAMES
As a game designer it is very crucial to make paper prototypes of the games we are trying to design. This allows us to ensure that the number and game mechanics are balanced as well as getting an idea of how fun our mechanics are. Here are some paper prototypes that I've made that range into dice games, card games and board games.
TEAM FORTRESS 2: DEATH BY DICE
The critically acclaimed game Team Fortress 2 is well known for its carefully crafted design and attention in the balance of its characters. Doing this by making each of them feel unique and have a very distinct use among them. this board game tries to replicate this by letting the players experience the game's capture the Intel. With 5 out of the 9 original characters to choose from, and a game mechanic that hides your identity, prepare for a great TF2 experience on a board game.
ACCELERATION!
This board game sets out to be a faster paced version of chess. The theme, is that the player plays as an Avatar in a virtual game where he/she is the King f their Legion. The player's objective is to make great tactical use of their other Avatars to defeat the enemy King. With each Avatar having their own unique special abilities known as Accelerations, they each have a very unique purpose and feel to them.
BAMBOO DICE
This dice game uses the martial art of Kendo as a theme. The player chooses one of four different kendo warriors from around the world. Each of them with their own stats and special moves. In this game, players take turns attacking and defending. There are three different colored dice indicating different target areas the playe aims to attack and defend. Rolling the correct die, gives them an advantage and a possible counter. Saving Skill Points, let the player use their special moves.
BOMBA!
In this family card game, players try to connect cards on the table by lining them up with matching numbers. When three of the same color have been connected, then that player makes a Bomba! The player with the most amount of Bomba! blasts wins.
